Grilled Bosc Pears: The Perfect Side Dish for Just About Anything

April 05, 2015

Grilled pears make an excellent side dish to any meal. I like to use Bosc pears because they tend to be a little crisper and firmer than other varieties and hold up well during the grilling process.

Ingredients
Directions

Cut the pear lengthwise into 1/8 - 1/4 inch slices. I like to use my mandolin for this but if you don't have one just be sure to cut the slices as even as possible. Turn the stovetop onto medium heat. Once it is warm using a pastry brush, brush the griddle with coconut oil. I also brush both sides of the sliced pear with coconut oil. Place pears on the griddle and cook until they start to sweat. Takes about 2 minutes.

Next, flip each slice over and let cook another minute or 2 until the slices start to become tender but not soggy.

Garnish with lime zest, sea salt and fresh basil. That's it!

Enjoy!

They are prized for their ability to tonify blood and yin without causing stagnation. Consumed daily in China as a food and herbal medicine, goji berries are revered for their anti-aging properties. They are used in many beauty tonics.
